The nation got to see a whole new side to Daniel O'Donnell on this week's Room to Improve

We were actually kind of scared for Dermot at some points.

LAST NIGHT, SEASON eleven of Room to Improve kicked off on RTÉ One.

As if a new season of Room to Improve isn’t exciting enough, Dermot’s first client this year was Daniel O’Donnell. We got to see inside Wee Daniel’s huge abode in Donegal town Kincasslagh.

Considering the fact that Daniel O’Donnell is worth €31 million, viewers last night were extremely eager to see inside his home. When the cameras finally entered, we all found out that his house was quite average.

Looking at this, you’d never guess that this was the home of a man who was worth more than Conor McGregor until the Mayweather fight in August 2017.

Majella showed Dermot Bannon around the house, which was decked out with weird gothic doorways.

She explained to him (not in these exact words) that she wanted something that would make the nation less suspicious that Daniel O’Donnell was a vampire. For example, new doors, brighter rooms, etc.

Majella explained that she spends a lot of time in this house alone while Daniel’s off on tour, so she really wanted to make it her own. She knew exactly what she wanted. As she was explaining, a fox ran by and herself and Daniel went into a bit of a panic about getting the chickens in.

Despite Majella’s certainty and vision, Daniel was not convinced about any of this. He was set on preserving the master bedroom. “There’s no point in coming up here and throwing good money after bad.”

For such a gentle, quiet man, Daniel can really get worked up.

It was hard to not feel nervous for Dermot when he was telling Daniel that tenders for the project came back as €340,000 – €395,000.

If looks could kill…

Sure, he wouldn’t even miss €395,000 of his €31 million fortune. Yet, he was still surprisingly pissed off. He warned Dermot and Majella:

Even though I’d like things done to the house… I couldn’t care less if nothing was done.

new

Regardless, Dermot bravely ploughed on.

There was plenty of banter with Majella, and plenty more drama with Daniel, who was obsessed with adding bathrooms and en-suites onto the property.

In the end, it was all worth it. There wasn’t a hint of the old vampire house left by the time Dermot was done with it. Majella was like a new woman while she led Dermot around to see the finished product.

Daniel was kept happy with five en-suites/bathrooms while Majella said she “couldn’t believe” this was her home. Dermot, as always, added a rake of windows to incorporate the surrounding landscape.

Plenty of lookout points to keep an eye on the foxes.
